I’m a passionate Medical Affairs professional, with 25 years of experience in bringing innovative drugs to patients.
Career highlights
Erik Present is a Medical Doctor, and obtained a physician-specialist title in Pharmaceutical Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology. After initial experience in Zambia in aid development, he started in the pharmaceutical industry in 2000.
Erik has had various roles in Medical Affairs: he worked from 2000 to 2006 at AstraZeneca. In 2006, he joined Janssen (now JnJ Innovative Medicines) till 2019. In 2019, he was appointed Medical Director Benelux for Galapagos, a Belgian clinical stage biotech. In 2024, he transitioned to Alfasigma, where he was leading the medical affairs activities in Benelux, Nordics and Austria.
In 2025, he joined Kintiga as Head of Medical Affairs. Erik is president of Healixia ( www.healixia.be), with over 700 members, the largest Belgian community of professionals active around the life cycle of drugs.
Erik is vice-chair of the Flemish Recognition Commission of Pharmaceutical Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology. He is a certified RIP (Responsible Information and Publicity) since 2008.
In the past, he was member of the board of Flanders.bio, trade organisation of biotech in Flanders. Erik was also co-chair of the Medical Director’s forum at Pharma.be (Belgian trade organisation for innovative pharma companies). Erik has a passion for medical education and medical affairs.

Personal interests
Father of two daughters and one son. Erik enjoys jogging (recently joined Strava), cycling and walking. In his free time; he likes to do (small!) jobs around the house.
